Product Description

Product Description
Carboxymethyl Cellulose
Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC-Na) is an organic compound with the chemical formula of [C6H7O2 (OH) 2OCH2COONa] n. It is a carboxymethyl derivative of cellulose and the most important ionic cellulose adhesive. Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose is usually an anionic polymer compound obtained by reacting natural cellulose with caustic soda and monochloroacetic acid, with a molecular weight ranging from several thousand to one million. CMC-Na is a white fibrous or granular powder that is odorless, odorless, and hygroscopic, and is easily dispersed in water to form a transparent colloidal solution

Product Parameters

Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) belongs to the category of anionic cellulose ethers, with the appearance of white or slightly yellow flocculent fiber powder or white powder, odorless, odorless, and non-toxic; Easily soluble in cold or hot water, forming a transparent solution with a certain viscosity. The solution is neutral or slightly alkaline, insoluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, isopropanol, acetone, etc., and soluble in ethanol or acetone solutions with 60% water content. It has hygroscopicity and is stable to light and heat. Its viscosity decreases with increasing temperature. The solution is stable at pH 2-10, and when pH is below 2, solid precipitates occur. When pH is above 10, its viscosity decreases. The color change temperature is 227 ºC, the carbonization temperature is 252 ºC, and the surface tension of the 2% aqueous solution is 71mn/n.
